Post from Congressman Barba’s Page

Before becoming a novelist and a winemaker, Sigrid Salucop worked as a journalist, policy analyst, and interpreter for several international publications.

Her writing career started at a small fashion magazine in London until she moved to the International Business Times to write for its London Edition and IBT Media’s subsidiaries.

Salucop studied at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and later took up International Humanitarian Law at Universiteit Leiden.

In the year 2013, she and her sister Sissel re-established their great-grandfather’s wine brand to honor his memory. Basi del Diablo Wines now has six wines under its name.

While making the first batch of their cabernet sauvignon Basi Maria, Sigrid was already working on her first novel. “The Emerald Key” was published a year later. This was followed by a collaboration with Philipp Winterberg’s “Je Suis Petite Moi?”

Salucop recently released her children’s book “Little Willow and the Enchanted Empanada” with Sissel W.M. Salucop as her illustrator.

The rest of the Little Willow Series and her latest work “The Heiress of Zaragoza” will be published by Rutherhausen & Clay.
